Mostly in shades of natural alpaca with a hint of cochineal in the stripes. Woven with expertly spun yarn, almost feels like a poncho or a wearable. It is a rare piece from South of Oruro/North Potosi region. Completely hand spun and woven, +60-70 years old. Two selvedge pieces stitched together. Approximately 59″x50″. Alpaca. Dry clean. Bolivia.
Almost square in size, more of a throw, fun to have it laying around. The eye dazzling effect of the narrow bands and uneven patina of the blue/grey bands in entirety, plus the bold rust/orange colors in the center. Oruro Region. Rare piece. Part of “Morenada” or “Diablada” dance-parades. Jackets are styled like a matador vest. This costume is about 60 years old. Embroidered with cut and shaped glass pattern that repeats on front. (Some of the glass pieces may be missing). Dimensions 25″ x 16″.
