Traditional vintage bedcovers or, gudris, of India are made by quilting together layers of upcycled vintage saris with tiny running stitches commonly called, kantha. The front sides are usually ornate, detailed, flamboyant, even, while the back sides are minimalist, calming fields of soft texture and beautifully irregular kantha stitches that can only be done by hand. Uniquely Indian and varied, they are truly one-of-a-kind and carefully curated by Little Journeys Chicago. Age 30 to 70 years. 72″ x 55″, mostly cotton and silk fabrics/strips.
